Benefits of Digestive Enzymes

More people are becoming increasingly aware that the “good” bacteria, are essential for good health. Yet if asked what the specific health benefits are, some are still confused.

Our bodies contain hundreds of microflora in the gastrointestinal tract. The proper balance of good bacteria or digestive enzymes promotes a healthy digestive system. They colonise the exterior surface of cells in the gastrointestinal tract and prevent potentially detrimental pathogenic organisms from proliferation. They also produce components shown to hinder the growth of certain types of harmful bacteria as well as lower risk for altered metabolic activity. These “good” bacteria live naturally in our intestines and are essential to good health having a number of positive effects, primarily helping our digestive system work efficiently.

We traditionally veiw bacteria as being “bad”, however in reality there are relatively only a small number of strains which are pathogenic and most microbes are harmless and contribute to wellbeing. These bacteria (good & bad) that live in our digestive system and gut are there naturally (or should be). they help our digestive system (the motor to our body) work efficiently by extracting all the goodness from what we eat, as well as vitamins and mineral supplements of which we might also be taking. With all the goodness going into our bloodstream and around our body, the waste moves along our intestine tract and passed into bowel motion.

Contrary to popular belief, you are not what you eat – you are what you can digest and absorb. Nothing is more important to your overall health than the health of your digestive system. It is the interface between your body and the outside world. Over a lifetime, no less than 100 tonnes of food passes along your digestive system. The digestive system is your “inside skin” and represents a 10 metre long tube with a surface area the size of a small football field. Amazingly, most of the billions of cells that make up this barrier between your body and the environment are renewed every four days.

We spend our physical lives processing organic matter, extracting nutrients, building materials and fuel, while eliminating the rest. How good we are at this determines our energy level, longevity and state of body and mind.
